Boucle has become the defining fabric of luxury beds over the last few years, and the Teddy Bahamas shows why. It takes the same generous hotel frame as the Duke and wraps it in a deep, curled teddy boucle that is warm to the touch and very forgiving of everyday life. The 135cm headboard arrives in two pieces so it gets upstairs easily, and the optional reinforced slatted ottoman gives you a huge storage compartment without changing the look of the bed at all.

Not every luxury bed needs a tall headboard. The Cloud of Boucle takes the opposite approach: a low 87cm headboard and deep scalloped channels that flow all the way around the frame and footboard. Every surface is padded, so there is not a hard edge anywhere on the bed. For a bedroom with real personality, the Astoria Deco is a statement. A 150cm arched headboard with seven deep channel panels, each edged in black piping against cream velvet, finished with low black block feet. It is inspired by the great Art Deco hotels and carries the look off convincingly without feeling like a costume. One of the quiet pleasures of a well-designed luxury bed is that it can tidy your bedroom for you. Almost every design in our collection is available with gas-lift ottoman storage: the whole sleeping platform rises from the foot of the bed on gas pistons to reveal a storage compartment the full size of the bed underneath.
For a king-size bed that is more storage than a large wardrobe, and it is completely invisible when the bed is closed. Choose the fabric in your own light. Cream boucle looks very different under a north-facing window than it does on a screen. We send free fabric samples so you can hold the exact fabric against your walls, curtains and bedding before you decide. It is the single best thing you can do before ordering a luxury bed.
Match the mattress to the frame. A hotel bed feels the way it does because the mattress is as good as the frame. How to choose the right luxury bed for your room
A few practical checks will make sure the bed you fall in love with online is the bed you love in the room.
Measure the wall, not just the floor. Hotel-style headboards like the Duke and the Teddy Bahamas extend beyond the mattress on each side. Check the width of the wall behind the bed, and look out for radiators, sockets and windows.
Think about ceiling height. A 150cm headboard is magnificent in a room with 2.4m ceilings. In a loft room or a cottage bedroom, a lower design like the Cloud of Boucle will look far more at home.
Check your access. Our tall headboards are made in two or three sections precisely so they fit through standard doorways and up turning staircases. Decide on storage at the start. A slatted ottoman base raises the bed by 5cm and adds 6cm to the length. It is a far better decision to make when ordering than to regret later.
Allow for the mattress. Standard UK sizes fit every bed we make, so your existing king-size mattress will fit a king-size PSCL frame. If you are replacing both, add a Shire Beds mattress to your order and have everything arrive together.

What is the difference between a luxury bed and a standard upholstered bed?
Luxury beds are generally taller, wider and far more deeply padded, use premium fabrics such as boucle and velvet, and are built on heavier frames with reinforced slats. Most importantly, they are made to order rather than mass produced, so the finish is to a far higher standard.
Are luxury beds hard to get upstairs?

Sleep Lighter: How PSCL Beds Is Using Technology to Build a Lower-Carbon Bed Industry
A bed is one of the biggest and heaviest things most people will ever have delivered to their home. Behind every bed sold in the UK sits a long chain of timber, foam, fabric, steel, cardboard, factory floors, container ships and delivery vans. Most of that chain is invisible to the customer, and for a long time the industry has been happy to keep it that way. We think that has to change.
We are not changing it with a slogan or a single “eco” range. We are changing it with a different way of running the business from end to end. We call it Sleep Lighter, and it rests on one idea: the lowest-carbon bed is the one made in the right quantity, made nearby, made to last, and delivered on a route that does not waste a mile.
Technology is what makes that possible at scale. PSCL Beds has always been an online-first business, so we hold data on every order, every component and every delivery. Over the past 24 months we have put that data, and prediction software built around it, to work on the parts of the industry customers never see. We do not build the beds and we do not drive the vans. What we do is plan, so that the people who do can do it with less waste. This is what we have done so far, and what it means for the bed that arrives at your door.

Predicting what to make, not guessing
The biggest source of waste in furniture manufacturing is not the offcut on the workshop floor. It is the material ordered, cut or built for demand that never arrived, and the rushed re-order when demand turned up that nobody had planned for. Both cost money. Both cost carbon.
We now run forecasting software across our order data to predict, product by product and fabric by fabric, what will need to be built in the weeks ahead. It reads live sales, seasonality, advertising activity and the way customers actually configure their beds, right down to headboard height, base type and storage option. The output is a quantities plan for each of the Yorkshire workshops that make our beds: how much timber, foam, fabric and fixings they are likely to need, and when.

We do not choose their materials for them. The people who build the beds know their craft far better than we do, and they source what they build with. What we give them is an accurate picture of demand. What we ask in return is uncompromising quality, because accurate quantities and quality that lasts are the two things that stop a bed becoming waste, either in the workshop or, years later, in a skip.
The effect is that materials arrive closer to the point of use, fewer components sit idle, and far less ends up as surplus stock or landfill. It also means fewer emergency deliveries from fabric mills and timber yards, which are among the least efficient journeys in the whole supply chain. An accurate forecast is one of the quietest sustainability measures in bed making, and one of the most effective.

Ask anyone who runs a delivery fleet what their most expensive journey is and they will give you the same answer: the empty one. Our routing software looks at where orders are coming from, where they are likely to come from next, and how they cluster by postcode and time window. It then builds each partner’s routes so that drops are tightly grouped, sequenced to avoid doubling back, and vans are properly loaded before they set off. Because it works from forecasts as well as confirmed orders, it can hold a delivery back a day or bring one forward to make a route properly efficient, instead of sending half-empty vans to scattered postcodes. The partner receives a finished plan. All they have to do is drive it.

Beyond that, we work on something less glamorous than a headline material and, we think, more useful: consistent data. Because we see the same manufacturing and delivery data week after week, across many workshops and delivery partners, we can see where waste actually comes from. Sometimes it is a fabric over-ordered for a colour that has gone quiet. Sometimes it is a component damaged in transit more often than it should be, which means a replacement part and a second van journey. Sometimes it is a route that keeps running light on a Thursday. None of these shows up in a single order. All of them show up in two years of consistent data.
We run an ongoing research programme into exactly this, and we do not keep the findings to ourselves. What we learn goes back to the people who can use it: the smaller workshops that do not have a data team, the larger factories with the scale to act on it, and the delivery partners across the country who carry the beds. Waste in this industry is rarely one big problem. It is hundreds of small ones, and consistent data is how you find them and keep finding them.
We are clear about where this is. It is a programme, not a finished product. What we can say is that every workshop and delivery partner we work with has a sharper picture of demand than it had two years ago, that the data improves every month, and that quantities planned accurately are materials that are not wasted.

A large share of the beds sold online in the UK are made thousands of miles away, packed flat into containers, shipped across oceans, trucked to a port warehouse and driven again to a regional depot before anyone thinks about the final delivery. Each leg adds emissions, packaging and the risk of damage, and the whole chain is exposed to the congestion and disruption global shipping has seen in recent years.

As the Sheffield Steelers mark 35 years on the ice, PSCL Beds joins the club as an official partner for the 2026/27 season. Two Yorkshire names, one shared inheritance.
There is a particular sound a Sheffield crowd makes. Anyone who has stood inside the Utilita Arena on a Saturday night knows it. It builds slowly through the warm-up, gathers itself as the lights drop, and then, when the Steelers step onto the ice, it breaks over the boards like something physical. Nine thousand voices in a city that has never done anything quietly.
This season, for the first time, the PSCL Beds name will be part of that noise. We are proud to announce our partnership with the Sheffield Steelers Ice Hockey Club for the 2026/27 Elite League campaign, with our name carried on the shoulder of the playing shirt at every home and away fixture. It is the most significant sporting partnership in our company’s history, and it arrives in a season that means more than most. This year, the Steelers turn 35.
Thirty-Five Years of Steel
The story begins in 1991, the year the Sheffield Arena opened its doors and a new ice hockey club took up residence inside it. The name was no accident. Steelers. A single word that carried the weight of two centuries of Sheffield industry, of crucibles and rolling mills, of a city whose products travelled the world stamped with a guarantee of quality that needed no further explanation.
What followed was one of the great success stories of British sport. From a standing start, in a city raised on football, the Steelers built one of the largest and most devoted followings in the European game. They have played in the top tier of British ice hockey continuously since 1993. They have won the league championship ten times. They have filled their arena with crowds that clubs across the continent would envy, and they have done it with a style of hockey that suits the city that watches it: fast, hard, honest, and utterly committed.
Thirty-five years on, the club that borrowed its name from Sheffield’s industrial past has become part of that heritage itself.
