Unlike most retailers, we build both ottoman base types in-house, so you can pick the one that suits your mattress and your storage.
Why Choose an Ottoman Storage Bed?
A standard divan with drawers gives you two or four small compartments. An ottoman bed gives you the entire footprint of the bed, roughly four times the storage of a drawer divan, with nothing sticking out into the room. We make ottoman beds in every standard UK size. A single ottoman bed is perfect for kids' rooms and box rooms where floor space is tight. A small double ottoman bed suits guest rooms and solo sleepers who like room to stretch. The double ottoman bed is our most popular size for couples, while a king size ottoman bed adds extra sleeping space and a noticeably bigger storage compartment. If your room allows it, a super king ottoman bed gives you hotel-level comfort and the largest hidden storage of all.

What is an ottoman bed?
An ottoman bed is a storage bed with a lift-up base. The mattress platform rises to reveal a large hidden compartment that runs the full length and width of the frame, giving you far more storage than a divan with drawers while keeping everything out of sight.
Should I choose a solid or slatted ottoman base?
Choose a solid base if you have a heavy pocket-sprung or hybrid mattress and want the firmest, most even support with maximum storage depth. Choose a slatted base if airflow matters most to you, for example with memory foam mattresses, as the gaps between slats let the mattress breathe. Both are handmade in our Yorkshire workshop to the same standard.
How much storage does an ottoman bed have?
The storage compartment covers the entire footprint of the bed. On a king size ottoman bed that is roughly 167 cm by 217 cm of usable area, around four times the capacity of a standard four-drawer divan. Storage depth is approximately 30 cm on slatted bases and 33 cm on solid divan bases.
Can I use any mattress on an ottoman bed?
Yes, all standard UK mattresses fit our ottoman beds. The mattress simply needs to match the bed size you order, for example a 150 x 200 cm king mattress on a king ottoman frame. If you need a mattress too, our luxury mattresses are made in the UK and can be delivered with your bed.
Are ottoman beds sturdy?
Yes. Because the storage base forms part of the bed's structure, a well-made ottoman bed is one of the sturdiest frame types available. Ours are built by hand from scratch, not flat-packed from imported parts, and every frame and mechanism is covered by our 24-month warranty.
Will my ottoman bed fit up the stairs?
Our beds are delivered in sections to make access easier, but we strongly recommend measuring doorways, stairways and landings before ordering, especially for king and super king sizes. Our measuring guide walks you through exactly what to check.
