Soft curves, one sharp black line

The Castle headboard is cut in a gentle scallop, three rounded crests that rise and fall across the top like a wave, then sweep down into rounded corners at each side. It is thickly padded, so the curves stay plump and soft, and the headboard runs wider than the base so it frames your pillows and bedside tables rather than stopping short behind them.

What makes the Castle stand out is the black strap. A slim black piping is stitched along the entire edge of the headboard, following every dip and crest of the scallop, and then continues around the top rim and down the corners of the base, so the whole bed is outlined in a single continuous black line. On a pale fabric such as Plush Cream it reads like a pen drawing of the bed. On darker shades it becomes a quieter shadow line that still gives the curves definition.

Handmade in Yorkshire, in the fabric you choose

Every Castle bed is handmade in Yorkshire once you order, in the size and fabric you pick above. The frame is built from solid timber, the headboard is padded and upholstered by hand so the scallops keep their shape, and the black piping is sewn in as the fabric is fitted rather than glued on afterwards, which is why it sits so neatly on the curves.

Choose from 29 fabrics across five ranges: Plush velvet in cream, grey, silver, steel, black, beige, green, pink, mustard and turquoise; textured Marble in oatmeal, platinum and silver; Coniston weave in charcoal, armour, almond, blue, emerald and pink; smooth Naples in black, steel, ivory, pearl blue and silver; and Crushed Velvet in silver, cream, black and mink. The black piping strap stays black on every colour.

Every bed is backed by a 24-month warranty.

Gas-lift ottoman storage

Add the gas-lift ottoman base in the options above and the whole mattress platform rises on gas struts to reveal storage the full size of the bed underneath. It lifts and lowers with one hand, so spare bedding, suitcases and out-of-season clothes disappear without a drawer in sight. The ottoman base sits at 30 cm and adds 6 cm to the length.

Low, footboard-free base

Prefer no storage? The standard slatted base sits at just 25 cm and lets your mattress breathe. There is no raised footboard, so the end of the bed stays low and open, the room feels bigger, and the black piping along the top rim gives the base a clean, tailored finish from every angle.

The black piping strap

The contrast piping is the Castle’s signature. It outlines the scalloped headboard and wraps the base in one continuous black line, so the curves stay crisp and readable even in a fully cream or white bedroom. Pair it with black bedside lamps, a black-edged throw or monochrome cushions and the whole room pulls together.

Custom headboard and assembly

Need a taller or lower headboard, or a 2-piece headboard for a tight staircase? Use the custom headboard option above and it is made to your measurements. If you would rather not build the bed yourself, professional assembly on the day of delivery is available as an optional paid extra.

Good to know

Headboard height: 114.5 cm as standard, measured from the floor to the top of the highest scallop. A taller or lower headboard can be requested through the custom headboard option above.

Headboard width: the scalloped headboard extends roughly 18 to 19 cm beyond the base on each side, which is why the Headboard Width column is wider than the Frame Width. Allow for this when planning bedside tables.

Base height: standard slatted base 25 cm, gas-lift ottoman base 30 cm.

Footboard: none. The Castle has a low, open foot end that finishes level with the top of the base.

Ottoman: the gas-lift ottoman base adds 6 cm to the bed length on every size, shown in the Ottoman Length column.

Handmade tolerance: this is a handmade bed, so allow ±2 cm on all measurements.
