Designed around the space beneath

Most beds treat the area under the mattress as dead space. Voluma® treats it as the point. The base is a deep upholstered box, 33 cm from the floor to the top of the platform, and the entire top lifts as one piece so nothing is hidden behind a drawer front or blocked by a side rail. What you get is one open compartment the full width and length of the bed, ready for duvets, pillows, suitcases, seasonal clothes and everything else that currently lives in a cupboard.

End Lift hinges at the head end and opens from the foot. It is the natural choice for double, king and super king sizes, where the weight of the mattress is balanced evenly across the lift and the mechanism feels light in the hand. All you need is clear floor at the end of the bed to stand while you load.

Because this is a base with no headboard, it is also the most flexible bed you can buy. Pair it with any upholstered headboard, keep the wall clear for a minimal look, or fit it into an alcove where a full frame would never go.

Twenty six fabrics, four families

Every Voluma® Pro is upholstered to order in your choice of fabric. Plush velvet for a soft, deep pile that catches the light. Coniston for a tighter, more tailored weave in colours from Almond and Armour to Emerald and Pink. Naples for a smooth linen look finish in Ivory, Silver, Steel, Black and Pearl Blue. Crushed Velvet in Silver, Cream, Mink and Black for a bedroom with more sparkle. The base sits on chrome effect glides, which lift the upholstery clear of the floor and finish the look. If you are choosing between two shades, order free fabric samples first and see them in your own light.

Engineered to be lifted every day

An ottoman base is a piece of furniture that moves. It gets opened, loaded, closed and slept on, year after year, so the frame underneath the fabric has to be more than a box. Voluma® was developed by the PSCL Engineering Team to solve exactly that: a reinforced timber frame, gas lift struts rated for a mattress of up to 80 kg, and a platform that rises with one gentle lift, holds itself open while you load, then lowers under control rather than dropping. It is registered as a storage system in its own right, and every Voluma® Pro is handmade in Yorkshire to that specification.

For delivery, the 4ft, 4ft 6 in, 5ft and 6ft bases are made in two halves that join on site, so they fit through standard doorways and up a normal staircase. The 3ft single comes as a single piece. Delivery to UK mainland addresses is free, and if your room is not ready you can hold your order for up to six months from checkout.

Every size is made 2 cm wider and 2 cm longer than the standard UK mattress it is built for, so the mattress sits neatly inside the upholstered edge.

Every base is handmade to order, so allow a tolerance of plus or minus 2 cm.
