The Rome Bed, Chesterfield craft from headboard to footboard
Deep diamond buttoning across the headboard, down the footboard and along both sides of the base, framed by slim wings finished with a line of studs. The Rome takes the classic Chesterfield look and carries it all the way round the bed, so it looks as good from the door as it does from the pillow. The design
A full Chesterfield, not just a buttoned headboard
Most buttoned beds stop at the headboard. On the Rome the diamond pattern continues across the footboard and along every side of the base, so there is no plain panel anywhere. Each button pulls the fabric into a deep, even diamond, the kind of tufting you would expect on a traditional Chesterfield sofa, and a neat row of studs runs down the edge of each wing to finish the frame.
Choose diamante buttons to catch the light, or matching fabric buttons for a softer, more understated look. Then pick from 25 fabrics across four families: Plush (10 shades), Coniston (6), Naples (5) and Crushed Velvet (4). Plush Cream and Naples Ivory keep it light and calm, Plush Grey and Coniston Charcoal give a classic Chesterfield feel, and Coniston Emerald or Naples Pearl Blue turn it into a statement piece.

Fine detailing, handmade in Yorkshire
Chesterfield upholstery is slow work and cannot be rushed by a machine. Every Rome bed is handmade in Yorkshire once you order. The fabric is stretched over the frame, each button is pulled through by hand and tied off at the back, and the folds between the buttons are worked into clean, even diamonds. The studs along the wings are set one at a time so the line stays straight.
It is this fine detailing that gives the Rome its depth. The diamonds line up across the headboard, footboard and sides, and the buttons sit at the same depth all the way round, which is what separates a true Chesterfield bed from a flat panel with a few buttons added.
Because it is made to order, the bed can be shaped around your room. Choose a 140 or 150 cm headboard in the options above, ask for a lower height, or use the custom requests box for anything else.

What is a Chesterfield bed?
Chesterfield is the deep diamond buttoning first made famous on leather sofas, where buttons are pulled through the upholstery to create a pattern of raised diamonds. On the Rome that buttoning covers the headboard, footboard and sides of the base, with a line of studs down each wing, so the whole bed carries the detail rather than just the headboard.
Diamante or fabric buttons, which should I choose?
Diamante buttons are included at no extra cost and catch the light, which works well with silver, grey, black and crushed velvet fabrics. Matching fabric buttons, as shown in the photos, cost a little more and give a softer, tonal finish that suits cream, beige and the Coniston and Naples fabrics. Both are chosen in the Detailing option above.
What size mattress do I need?
Single takes a 90 x 190 cm mattress, Small Double 120 x 190 cm, Double 135 x 190 cm, King 150 x 200 cm and Super King 180 x 200 cm. You can add a mattress in the right size from the options above.
Can I change the headboard height?
Yes. The standard headboard is 137 cm high. In the options above you can choose a taller 140 or 150 cm headboard, or ask for a lower height. Non-standard sizes are made specially for you and are non-returnable, so please check your ceiling, staircase and doorways first.
Will the headboard fit up my stairs?

How does the ottoman storage work?
Choose the storage base in the options above and the mattress platform lifts on gas struts from the foot of the bed, giving you the full footprint of the bed as storage underneath. The reinforced slatted ottoman comes with a lid for the storage floor, sits at 30 cm and adds 6 cm to the bed length. It is designed for mattresses weighing up to 60 kg.

Coniston: Charcoal, Armour, Almond, Blue, Emerald and Pink.

How does delivery and assembly work?
Delivery is free to UK mainland addresses and arrives within 5 to 10 working days. PSCL-Rapid™ delivery within 3 to 5 working days is available as a paid upgrade (excludes Northern Ireland, the Highlands and offshore islands). You can also choose to delay delivery until after a date that suits you. Professional assembly on the day of delivery is an optional paid extra; if you choose it, the packaging is left with you to dispose of.
What warranty and returns do I get?
Every bed comes with a 24-month warranty. Standard orders can be returned within 14 days, with return transport paid by the customer. Beds with a non-standard headboard height or custom requests are made specially for you and are non-returnable.

Step 2: Headboard Dimensions
The headboard height is listed above. If an increase is needed, adjust accordingly as specified by us.
Headboard Measurements are Height x Width x Depth - (Most of the headboards are between 13cm and 25cm including the wings)
Step 3: Width and Length
Use the specified width and length for your chosen bed size from the dimensions table provided on the product page.
Step 4: Base Height
